BEAUTY Bonus: Maximum Facial Skin Healing, Rejuvenation & Wrinkle Prevention Routine without conflicting brands

The basic concept of cleansing—treating—prevention is what experts advise to develop in a personal beauty routine. For the gifted ones with excellent complexion, water and mild soap or cleanser seem to work well when youth still reverberates, and natural moisture is merely supplemented with hydration to combat the effects of the environment. Unfortunately, I am not one of those, and worse, my skin had suffered acne and the worst environment exposure under sun. My first concern was to control the acne, then prevent further formation, and finally preventing the onset of the next enemy— fine lines and wrinkles.

I’m glad that Retseliney provides a simple 3-step application to set my beauty regimen rolling without considering products of different brands that have the possibility of counteracting each other, or worse conflicting each other to my detriment.

From my not-so-long-ago younger years, my dermatologist had identified my skin as dry on the outside yet oily on the inside, so it has an outward appearance of scaly flaky skin yet prone to acne outbreak. Unfortunately, this continued past my teeny-bopping years. Finding the right skin formula to control acne had been pretty challenging relying on trial-and-error method, until I started including topical vitamin C. Having known the age-old and time-tested healing properties of this micronutrient when ingested orally, little did I know of its benefits when applied topically. I had also refrained from using other moisturizers in the past mainly because I prefer to suffer a not-so-flawless complexion to the periodic ugly red bumps. As time progressed, I realize the necessity to moisturize specially that it now causes me to itch from excessive dryness, not to mention the fine lines that are starting to show.

Then I started to experiment with the natural healing and moisturizing effects of ascorbic acid (better known as vitamin C) combinations. I cleanse my face with water and mild vitamin C cleanser… before putting make-up in the morning, and then again at night when removing make-up. This is done by wetting the face with water (better if it is a bit warm to open up the pores to take out embedded dirt), & lathering up one pumpful of the cleanser. It should be applied in an upward outward circular until make-up is completely removed. I oftentimes do the procedure twice when removing make-up, while doing it once in the morning suffices. Pat the face dry with a soft towel.

This is followed up with the Vitamin C serum. The vitamins (A, C and E) made available during the cleansing wash may be slightly absorbed by the skin, so it would need to be followed up with the serum for further retention. Formulations in serum vehicle give easy and even application, and being heavier than the cleanser which was mostly washed off, it stays longer on the skin, too. Again, this is done after cleansing in the morning and before bedtime.

Finally, I use the retinol formulation for one week straight every month for serious exfoliation to slough off dead skin cells and bring out a fresh living layer. Remember that skin refreshes approximately every 30 days when the innermost dermis comes out, so it is my belief that I should not exfoliate everyday or it would thin the face drastically.

Using the cleanser and serum daily, and the retinol formulation for 7 straight days every month resulted to more intense skin healing activity. The 30-day skin cell turn-over seems to have hastened bringing out new skin faster, my friends say that my skin now appears to have a glow! The cells seem to have plumped up, too, which I attribute to the hyaluronic acid and witch hazel content, eliminating the little lines and wrinkles that, I should admit, had started to show. Overall, I know that this facial regimen of cleanser-serum-exfoliation , with its other time-tested natural beauty ingredients (essential oils from rosehip, tea tree, oregano, olive and borage, horsetail plant and dandelion, and shea butter and aloe vera) and micronutrients (vitamins A, C, E, the amino acid arginine), is helping my skin recuperate from the harsh effects of the environment through skin cell healing, regeneration and growth, I can actually feel my old skin being sloughed off gently to uncover fresher skin. Since I used products from Retseliney, I wake up to more vibrant and luminous younger-looking skin. Gone are the days of dull, dry, old-looking skin. Don’t forget to protect with sunscreen, though.
