Extrasss: BOTH retinol and the name brand Accutane are derived from Vitamin A. However, retinol is targeted for both clearing out your skin, unclogging pores and anti aging purposes. While Accutane basically dries out majority of your oil glands and is targeted for oily and acne prone skin. With regards to sun sensitivity: the amount of Vitamin A ingested while on accutane your skin is at high risk for irritation with excessive sun exposure! Meanwhile, I experienced NO irritation from the sun while on a nighttime retinol treatment…even while vacationing in Mexico! Remember, everyone is different…retinol is a chemical exfoliant so your skin will be a bit more sensitive, it’s baby skin! ALSO…my skin did ‘purge’ itself a bit initially. I had a few extra breakouts during my first week on retinol, I got through it!
