DIY Cold Cream Recipe for Acne & All Skin Types

DIY Cold Cream Recipe for Acne & All Skin Types
Cold cream is perfect for Acne prone skin, oily skin, mature skin, dry skin, and can be used in more than one way. It can be used as a body lotion, face cream, shaving cream, face mask, and most importantly, a skin cleanser and makeup remover!
Open me for important info!

Here is what you will need:
1 oz beeswax (roughly 2 tbs)
(Find this in a health food store or here on Amazon – http://amzn.to/1Qft4wO )
VEGAN SUBSTITUTE? http://ift.tt/2mtrodE (I HAVE NOT used this before, so you will have to experiment to see if it works the same as beeswax!)
1/2 cup your choice oil
(Grocery store)
1/4 cup distilled water or distilled rose water
(Grocery store)
Optional: 8-10 drops skin safe essential oil
(Health food store, bulk store or online)
Optional: 2 TBS aloe vera juice
(Health food store or on Amazon – http://amzn.to/23fS7qJ )
1/8 teaspoon borax
(Laundry isle of health food store or on Amazon -http://amzn.to/1KrLLJd ) if you don’t want to use borax, you will need to store your cream in the freezer. To use it, store some of the cream in your fridge and use it within 5 days. Check out the bottom of this description for more info on borax.

Sterilized tools needed:
2 different sized glass or steel bowls
A silicon spatula
Measuring spoons
A measuring cup
A pot with boiling water
A whisk
Glass storage containers
Optional: Immersion blender (for lazy people)

Steps:
First, sterilize all of your tools! Do so by boiling a pot of water, and emerging all of your tools into the pot. This will ensure no bacteria are present on your tools.
1. Combine oil with beeswax in the smaller bowl
2. Combine water, essential oil & borax in the bigger bowl
3. Warm the bowl of beeswax & oil mixture over the pot of boiling water (double boiler method)
4. Warm up the water & borax mixture with the same method
5. When beeswax is fully melted & water is warm, slowly pour the beeswax into the water bowl while whisking at the same time. You must whisk the entire time. To speed up the process, you can mix while the bowl is placed on top of an ice bath. If you are lazy like me, you can use a blender to speed up the process also.
6. Transfer your freshly made cold cream into your glass jars.

In my health food store, they carry lots of organic products that use borax (sodium tetraborate) as a natural preservative. Please gauge for yourself whether you feel borax is safe or not. DO NOT USE BORIC ACID, BORIC ACID IS NOT THE SAME AS BORAX OR SODIUM TETRABORATE. It is not a known carcinogen, where as women with breast cancer have been found to have methyl/parabens in their bloodstreams at high amounts even though parabens are FDA approved in skincare. Borax has a very alkaline pH of about 9.3, which is mainly what makes it such a great natural preservative. You could always not use the borax and freeze your cream; only take a small amount out cream and store in your fridge and use within 5 days if it is a big concern for you though!
